Learning from Like-Minded Businesses
I have meetings with business owners regularly because I like to learn from others who run a good business. I thought I would highlight one in particular here.
Recently I met with Jay Lucas, CEO of True North, an executive search firm.
While his business may be in a different industry than Energized Real Estate, our management and business philosophies are similar. Like us, True North is focused on providing value to their clients and not just closing a transaction. They believe in proving their worth, developing a value based business culture, and honoring God in their day to day work by upholding Godly values.
During our meeting, we talked about Energized Real Estate and asked how his business relates to us. When we work with clients we focus on 3 things: Success Factors (making sure clients understand industry statistics that are proven to help sellers and buyers be more successful), market intelligence (harness the power of data to make better decisions), and working with proven successful people (to increase likelihood of success).
Here’s how our three focuses are in relation to theirs:
Capitalize on Success Factors:
- True North provides in-depth career counseling, both to employers and hopeful employees. They not only want to fill a position at their clients’ business, but they wan to make sure the job is a good fit for the employee.
- Industry data shows the more satisfied with a job, the longer someone they place will stay in a position.
- True North collects information from employers and job seekers to find out what the satisfaction level is for most people in the company and in similar positions to the one offered. This data helps them present the best options to their interviewees.
Working with successful people:
- Hires are passionate about what they do, and all of the recruiters at True North have 8-10 years of experience.
The purpose of this meeting was to educate ourselves and our visitors about who we are and to build trust with similar organizations.
